Charcoal Grill: Two Types of Charcoal
People who love traditional way of cooking should opt to purchase charcoal grills. A charcoal grill is used to grill, toast, smoke the meat and fish and is useful for many purposes, depending upon the type of food to be cooked and how it is going to be set up.
Some people may find gas and other types of grills easy to use and of latest technology but the taste of the food made from charcoal grill is unique and adds a genuine flavor that cannot be obtained from other types of grills. Charcoal grills can be either portable that is good for tailgating and other picnic events or larger charcoal grills that are primarily used for poolside and backyard barbecue.
An important feature of a charcoal grill is that it should be easy to douse the flare- ups, if any, which are inevitable during cooking. There are newer models of charcoal grills in which there is water in the base below where the charcoal sits and allows for easier dousing of hot coals. This safety feature has to be considered while buying a charcoal grill.
Also, while extinguishing, the lid has to be closed first, so that oxygen is deprived to the flame. Tongs should be used to safely transfer the charcoal into a metal container. A charcoal grill should necessarily have good, strong and sturdy legs. This is, in the safety point of the view, needed for the person cooking and also for others around.
The charcoal used for fuel can be of two varieties. Charcoal briquettes can be used to give a more even and consistent heat when the briquettes are spread properly. Non- briquettes are rough charcoal but they have a tendency to produce a lot of flavor and smoke that might be preferred by some people.
While lighting a charcoal grill, it is better to use a lighter fluid instead of gasoline. The temperature of the charcoal grill should always be maintained optimum and depends mainly on the thickness of the meat cooked. For this purpose, a meat thermometer can be used. Vegetables can be wrapped in aluminum foil and cooked on medium heat. Those who want to enjoy outdoor cooking with a natural and wonderful taste of food can certainly own a charcoal grill and would not let a person stay hungry, throughout the picnic.
